‘Bentong’ passes away at 55

MANILA, Philippines — Comedian Domingo Vusotros Brotamante Jr., popularly known in television as “Bentong” died Saturday morning. He was 55.

The comedian’s passing was confirmed by his son-in-law Arvin Vincent Anierdes in a Facebook post.

According to the Facebook post, Bentong passed at around 5 a.m. at the Fairview General Hospital in Fairview Quezon City.

“Rest in Peace Papa Bentong hindi ko akalain na heto na ang ating huling pagsasama naten alam ko kasama mo na ang Panginoon ngayon kaya panatag narin ang loob ko,” Anierdes said in his post.

“Maraming maraming salamat Papa sa pag aaruga sa Pamilya naten. Maraming salamat din dahil napakarami mo napasayang tao. Mahal na mahal ka namin Pa,” he added.

Anierdes said the comedian was declared dead on arrival at the said hospital following a cardiac arrest.

Bentong started his showbusiness career as the production assistant for ABS CBN until he was given a break to become a comedian.

He was best known as the “side-kick” of comedian and television host Willie Revillame in his noontime shows in various television networks.

Bentong also played roles in the movies Jologs (2002), The Adventues of Pureza: Queen of the Riles (2011), and Shake Rattle and Roll XV (2014).

He also played the role of Mang Jules in the television hit series Luv U that ran from 2012 until 2016. /muf
