Are you a die-hard “Spongebob Squarepants” fan that got disappointed when you did not hear “Sweet Victory” during the Super Bowl halftime show? One ice hockey team has got you covered.
The Dallas Stars felt it best to give justice to hopeful “Spongebob” fans when the team played the song, in an attempt to correct the apparent snub.
During the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, Feb. 3, the well-loved character and his gang did make an appearance, but not the kind that fans had in mind: Spongebob and his friends from Bikini Bottom, dressed up in marching band outfits, appeared for a brief moment only to introduce rapper Travis Scott.
Fans were originally expecting Maroon 5, who headlined the show, to sing “Sweet Victory”. This started with Isreal Colunga, who set up a Change.org petition to have the song performed at the halftime show as a tribute to the show’s creator Stephen Hillenburg. More than 1.2 million have signed the petition.
Jason Danby, one of the hockey team’s officials, shared what the team conceptualized, via his Twitter account.
In the posted video, the Bikini Bottom gang — this time wearing green marching band outfits, to match the team’s color — can be seen singing the song. Only this time, clips of cheering and dancing Dallas Stars fans were included.

The hockey team’s official Twitter page also shared a clip, and even took a swipe at the apparent snub, reading, “The #SuperBowl halftime show fans deserve.”
It appears that fans were loving it, with the video already garnering around 9,500 retweets and 23,300 likes, as of writing.
