Pops Fernandez to Martin Nievera on his birthday: ‘Through it all, we’ve remained friends’

Although they are no longer together, Pops Fernandez paid tribute to her ex-husband Martin Nievera in celebration of his birthday.

The Concert Queen penned a heartwarming greeting to her ex-husband in an Instagram post for his 57th birthday today, Feb. 5.

“We have surpassed and hurdled a lot,” Fernandez said on looking back about her relationship with the Concert King. “…and yet thru it all we have remained friends. God has indeed a reason for everything!”

She then listed down all the good things about him, such as being a “generous giver” to the point where he forgets to give to himself, and giving his “100 percent” whenever he performs on stage.

“You are meant to be on stage,” she told Nievera. “That is your way of touching everyone’s heart.”

Fernandez also noted that Nievera ought to receive a statue from the Sunday noontime variety show “ASAP”, “[because] not only did [you] think of its name, not only is it on the day of your bday… you really are truly the only ORIGINAL host that remained.”

“Stay happy and do not forget all the wonderful blessings around you,” Fernandez reminded Nievera, while also subtly greeting his twin sister Vicki a happy birthday.

Nievera and Fernandez, known as the local entertainment industry’s “Concert King and Queen”, were married in 1986. Their marriage was annulled in 2000. The ex-couple has two children, Robin and Ram. JB
