Would Robin Padilla ever consider himself being part of the Senate one day?

“Wala akong pasensya dyan (I don’t have the patience for it),” the actor said firmly during a press conference for his new film “Bato: The Gen. Ronald dela Rosa Story” held  Thursday, as recorded by entertainment writer Allan Diones.

The action star pointed out that his brother Rommel is the only one deserving in his family to enter politics. Rommel, who is the father of teen king Daniel Padilla, is vying for the position of congressman in Nueva Ecija in the May 13 elections.

“Eh against tayo sa political dynasty (I’m against political dynasties),” he said. “Mahirap naman yung ako mismo, hindi ka susunod (It’s hard if I too won’t abide by it). Kumbaga (It’s as if) practice what you preach.”

“Hindi ako pwede dyan (I can’t be in politics),” Padilla added. “Wala akong pasensya, kailangan dyan mapag-pasensyang tao (I don’t have the patience for it; what it needs is a patient person).”

He then joked, “Gusto mo bang may binubugbog ako sa Senate (Would you want me to punch someone at the Senate)?”

“Tama na po ang isa [pulitiko] sa pamilya (One politician in the family is enough),” he said with finality.

Back in August, Padilla’s name was included in the PDP-Laban’s list of possible senatorial bets in the upcoming elections. However, he stated in an Instagram post that if his “ninang” (godmother), late senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, were still alive, she would tell him that he has no place in the Senate.  Katrina Hallare /ra
