MANILA, Philippines — Filipino-American singer Angelica Hale made history as the first contestant of “America’s Got Talent” (AGT) to earn two Golden Buzzer wins.
“We’re not crying… You’re crying! 11-year-old @angelicahale is the first two-time #GoldenBuzzer EVER!” AGT’s official Twitter account announced on Tuesday.
Hale first joined “America’s Got Talent” in 2017 where she received her first Golden Buzzer and finished second place.
Hale sang Rachel Platten’s 2014 hit “Fight Song” for her performance at the “AGT The Champions” which earned her a standing ovation from the audiences and judges.
“Angelica, you are like the little boss lady that you are. You came here to win. I can see that. I can feel that,” one of AGT’s judges Heidi Klum said.
Hale received the Golden Buzzer from judge Howie Mandel which automatically makes her one of the contestants competing in the talent show’s finals.
“When people show up on this show, the level of competition is much higher. Just by the title, you are amongst champions. You show up and you ripped the ceiling off this theater. That was your fight song. And if I can do anything, I’m gonna help you win this fight,” Mandel said as he pressed the Golden Buzzer.
Hale burst into tears and said, “I can’t believe this is actually happening to me. I never expected this to happen. I wanted to thank you so much. This is a dream come true.”
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the young singer expressed thanks and excitement after receiving her second Golden Buzzer.
“I can’t believe that I now have TWO #goldenbuzzers Thank you @howiemandel for believing in me and sending me through to the finale of #AGTChampions!!! #mysmilesaysitall,” Hale wrote in the caption. /cbb
