Chris Pratt’s proposal to Katherine Schwarzenegger may have surprised many, but her family is said to have expected it.
The “Jurassic Park” actor talked to his fiancee’s parents, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, prior to getting engaged, a source told People yesterday, Jan. 14.
But even from the start, the “Jurassic World” actor had made it clear that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Katherine, the source said.
This was evident with the effort Pratt, 39, made to spend time with the 29-year-old motivational author’s family.

He already had mom Maria Shriver’s seal of approval—she is said to have set up her daughter with the actor—and Pratt made sure that he bonded well with the Schwarzenegger family.
Although dating rumors began with a June picnic, the two had been going on dates prior to it. Behind the scenes, Pratt had also been a constant in Shriver’s family dinners.
Based on news about their dates, it seems the two shared common values, such as being in tight-knit families and a strong sense of spirituality.
In July, paparazzi photos showed the couple sharing a kiss after a Sunday church service and hanging out with Pratt’s young son Jack. On the same day, they were seen having lunch with a pastor.
The following month, the two were spotted on another church service and a lunch date. Pratt was also seen at a family dinner with Shriver and his fiancee’s siblings including “Midnight Sun” actor Patrick Schwarzenegger, E! News reported in August.
Katherine, too, bonded with her beau’s family in September when she spent a weekend with Pratt’s older brother and army vet Cully in California, as per Cully’s Instagram post. Another post from Cully showed that they had another weekend together in October for his birthday.
A double date awaited the couple in November, this time with Katherine’s dad and his girlfriend Heather Milligan. In the same month, Pratt spent Thanksgiving with her family.

Pratt also had one-on-one time with Patrick Schwarzenegger when they were snapped attending an L.A. Clippers versus New York Knicks basketball game in December, People reported. The couple also spent the holidays together and ended the year with Katherine’s siblings, mom and Jack in Cabo, Mexico, E! News reported.
Whenever he would be with her family, a source told People that Pratt never hid his affection for his lady. Katherine has also always been open about having a future with the movie star, another source said.
So when Pratt asked Katherine’s parents for her hand in marriage, they were not surprised, and those close to the couple—including Pratt’s ex-wife Anna Faris—happily welcomed news of the engagement. Niña V. Guno /ra
