MANILA, Philippines — Singer Angeline Quinto proudly shared the story of how she was able to hold and kiss the image of the Black Nazarene as she joined the Traslacion on Wednesday, Jan. 10.
In an Instagram post, Quinto said it took some help from fellow devotees for her to climb the “andas” or carriage of the religious image.
“Nahirapan man po ako sa pagakyat sa inyo ngayong taon, may mga taong pilit akong tinulungan para mahawakan kayo,” she wrote on Thursday.
The 19-year-old singer added, “Ilang segundo kong nahawakan ang kamay at mukha niyo, ilang beses kong nahalikan ang kamay niyo at isang bagay lang po ang palagi kong ibubulong sainyo. MARAMING MARAMING SALAMAT PO MAHAL NA POON.”
Quinto also gave a special mention to fellow Black Nazarene devotees, saying “Salamat sa mga kapatid kong deboto din, Makati Chapter sa taong taong pagtulong sa akin.”
This year, it took 21 hours for the image of the Black Nazarene to reach Quiapo Church after it left Quirino Grandstand. /muf
