The upcoming 91st Academy Awards will have no host this year—the first time in 30 years—according to a report.
Producers have reportedly decided to move forward with the show without a replacement for Kevin Hart, who has dropped the gig, Variety reported on Wednesday, Jan. 9.
The report said a new format for the show will be followed. Also, producers will choose some A-list stars set to introduce each segment of the show.
Skits will also be on focus in this year’s awards. Music will likewise have an important role—since it was seen that 2018 was a high-profile year in film music.
This was not the first time the Oscars had no host. The last time it happened was in 1989, when it opened with an infamous musical number starring Rob Lowe and an actress playing Disney’s Snow White.
Hart was previously tagged to be this year’s host, but later backed out due to resurfaced homophobic tweets he made in the past.
The nominations for this year’s Oscars will be announced on Jan. 22, and the awards show will be on Feb. 24. Katrina Hallare /ra
