MANILA, Philippines — On social media, so-called “grammar nazis” are almost always on the loose, checking and crossing out grammatical errors in comments and messages posted by just about anyone.
Singer and former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate Maris Racal was no exception. She got called out for her grammar in an Instagram caption, but she won’t let any of it just fly.
“Kailangan perfect ka talaga ‘no ‘pag nasa Pilipinas ka,” Racal said in a tweet on Tuesday.

Racal’s tweet was attached with screenshots of comments from her Instagram post on Monday, which she captioned: “Can’t not shop at Penshoppe.”
One of the screenshots showed a netizen who commented, “A double negative is the nonstandard usage of two negatives used in the same sentence so that they cancel each other and create a positive.”
The comment added, “In Shakespeare’s day, double negatives were considered emphatic, but today they are considered grammar mistakes.”
Another comment said, “Can’t na nga, may not pa ‘yung totoo? Hahaha just saying.”
But Racal twits, “What if mali talaga ang na post mo ‘no? Siguro doble pa makukuha mong hate comments.” /kga
