Social media personality Cameron Dallas was incarcerated after punching and breaking the nose of another man in Colorado, United States.

Dallas was indicted for felony second-degree assault with intent to cause bodily injury, as reported by the Aspen Times yesterday, Dec. 31. He was taken into Pitkin County Jail before being released upon posting bail worth $5,000 (around P262,000).

Dallas was best known for his popularity in Instagram, Vine and YouTube, before breaking into the Hollywood scene. He also made headlines in the Philippines for becoming an ambassador of a local clothing brand in 2017.

Dallas allegedly punched the man (identity withheld) and breaking the victim’s nose in the process, at the hotel Hyatt Residence Club Grand Aspen, where the social media influencer was staying at on Saturday, Dec. 29. Local police officers received an ambulance call at 5:10 a.m. on the same day from a man who was “bleeding from injuries to his face.”

The victim claimed he was assaulted by Dallas, as per report. The authorities investigated the incident and confirmed that the “Expelled” and “Chasing Cameron” star was indeed staying in the hotel. He was apprehended not long after.

Dallas, who did not give specific details on the incident, confirmed what happened via Twitter yesterday. Posting his mug shot, Dallas defended his action, saying it was a situation where he had to protect his self and the people he cared about.

“Unfortunately sometimes in life you find yourself in a situation where you have to protect yourself and the people you care about, have a safe and happy new year, 2019 is going to be an amazing one,” he said. Kate Matriano/JB
