Will Ryzza Mae Dizon follow in Catriona Gray’s footsteps?
While singer and actor Ice Seguerra shares similar roots with Miss Universe Catriona Gray, at least in terms of also being a former Little Miss Philippines contestant, another “Little Miss Philippines” winner’s path is yet to be forged.
“Eat Bulaga” co-host Ruby Rodriguez believes Ryzza Mae, who was crowned Little Miss Philippines 2012, has what it takes to follow in the footsteps of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, as seen via Instagram last Monday, Dec. 17.
“Sabi ko na nga @ryzzamaedizon_ may pag asa ka! (I told you Ryzza Mae, you have a chance!)” she said, sharing a side by side photo of Gray’s 1999 Little Miss Philippines stint and a recent photo of her winning Miss Universe.

Ryzza Mae’s fans immediately took to the comments section of the post to share their support for the child star.

“Kung papayat at tatangkad lang si Ryzza, baka mag-ganyan din sya (If Ryzza will become thinner and taller, she will probably [follow in Gray’s footsteps]),” quipped one social media user, @jmmorga35.
Other fans seemed to echo the netizen’s sentiment, telling Ryzza Mae should start her diet.
Some fans noted that if Gray has her iconic lava walk, Ryzza Mae will be known for her cha cha walk. In 2013, the child star released a track titled “Cha Cha Dabarkads”.
While most netizens were looking forward to Ryzza Mae joining a beauty pageant in the future, one netizen discouraged the child star from doing so. “Naku wag Ryzza binobola ka lang [laughs] (Don’t, Ryzza, they are only jesting),” stated @jerichomontano.
While the child star did not comment on the possibility of herself joining the prestigious beauty pageant in the future, she and comedian Allan K. liked Rodriguez’s post.
It remains to be seen if the country has another beauty queen to look out for in the person of another Little Miss Philippines. JB
