MANILA, Philippines — Saab Magalona’s band “Cheats” on Wednesday held a Christmas gig for the benefit of East Avenue Medical Center’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Held at XX:XX in Makati City, the pay-what-you-want event titled “Merry Cheatsmas” featured performances from Cheats, Oh, Flamingo! and Tom’s Story.
The Christmas gig’s proceeds will go the Luna Memorial Fund established by Magalona and husband Jim Bacarro.
“That was the best gig. Thank you for all your donations,” Magalona wrote in a tweet.
“We surpassed the target and we’ll be able to buy a deep freezer for the East Ave Medical Center NICU to store breast milk. The rest will be used to buy diapers for the babies,” she added.

Magalona has been vocal about her advocacy on the importance of breastfeeding and helping premature babies, specifically the ones from East Avenue’s NICU.
She even spent her 30th birthday giving back to the same hospital by donating newborn clothes, cloth diapers and electric breast pumps. /cbb
