Cherie Gil couldn’t help but feel the excitement as she announced the news of her comeback in the theater stage with “Angels in America: Millennium Approaches.”
“In honor of World AIDS Day, it’s finally been said! Been biting my tongue from sharing this to the world!” Gil captioned her Instagram post on Saturday.
Gil expressed enthusiasm for the project and said: “Waited for too long for the perfect play as I’ve been yearning to be back on stage!”
The 55-year-old veteran actress also gave a special mention to Bobby Garcia who will direct the first part of Tony Kushner’s magnum opus.
“I can’t thank Bobby Garcia enough for giving me this amazing material to grit my teeth and sink my heart, mind and soul into,” she wrote.
Gil was also thankful to be part of this “fantastic ensemble which I have no doubt will bring to the fore living, breathing human hearts from whom I can only learn from and grow.”
Alongside Gil, “Angels in America” will also star the finest and most-awarded actors Art Acuña, Pinky Amador, Angeli Bayani, Topper Fabregas, Nelsito Gomez, Andoy Ranay and Markki Stroem.
Gil described this project as an “actor’s dream” as she will not only play one role but four different characters.
“Angels in America: Millennium Approaches,” set in the 1980s New York City, tackles the issue of AIDS and homosexuality.
Produced by Atlantis Theatrical Entertainment Group, the show will open in March 2019 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Makati. /cbb
