Andrea Brillantes continues to shyly deny comparisons made between her and Liza Soberano, whom she considers a “dyosa” (goddess).

“Hindi totoo, pramis, ang layo-layo (It’s not true, promise, we look nothing alike),” exclaimed Brillantes. Nonetheless, the young actress considered it an honor to be compared to Soberano. “Thank you and nakakakilig. Kasi siyempre, dyosa si Ate Liza compared sa akin,” she said, as reported by Push.

(Thank you and it thrills me. It’s because Ate Liza is a goddess compared to me.)

Brillantes is part of the cast for the upcoming film “Kahit Ayaw Muna,” where she portrays the aspiring composer Ally. The movie will open in theaters on Dec. 5 and is directed by Bona Fajardo.

The young actress is also part of the main cast of the TV series “Kadenang Ginto,” where she plays as Marga.

Fans of Brillantes had also done comparisons with her and the character that she portrays. The young actress said she and Marga are complete opposites. “Ang layo, kasi ang arte-arte ni Marga. Tapos siya ay laking mayaman, spoiled, laging nagsa-shopping, laging bago yung bag, bago yung shoes. Tapos bully sa school. Basta malayo, sobrang contrast kami,” said Brillantes.

(We really are nothing alike because she’s so finicky. She’s rich, spoiled, always shopping, always has a new bag, new shoes. Then she’s a bully at school. We’re just a total contrast to each other.)

Even so, Brillantes said she enjoyed portraying the role because it was challenging. She explained that the more difficult the role, the easier it was for her to work with.

She said, “Mas nahihirapan ako kapag hindi challenging yung role kasi paano ko siya mabibigyan ng something kung sobrang plain lang niya.”

(I’m more troubled when the role isn’t challenging because how am I supposed to give the character that “something” when it’s so plain.) Alfred Bayle
