Actor Coco Martin and Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Director General Oscar Albayalde will meet next week to discuss issues about television prime time hit series “Ang Probinsyano.”
PNP Spokesperson Chief Supt. Benigno Durana Jr. announced Monday that Albayalde accepted the request of Martin, lead actor of the drama-action series.
In “Ang Probinsyano,” Martin plays the role of Ricardo “Cardo” Dalisay, a decent police officer who later joined the rebel group Vendetta.
“Tinanggap na ni Chief PNP ang request ni Cardo [or] Coco Martin sa isang meeting. Alam ko sa Monday. Tinanggap na ni Chief PNP iyon para pag-usapan ‘yung mga detalye ng aming cooperation so that we will probably, hopefully, we can arrive at a situation where [we can be] mutually beneficial to both parties,” Durana said in a press briefing.

Durana said other personnel of the show might also join the meeting.
Earlier, the PNP has withdrawn its support for the show, including police officers, facilities, and equipment.
“Why will we be complicit to a TV program that destroys us and that destroys public interest?” Durana said. “Ganoon ang suporta namin, tapos to our detriment (We support them that much, but to our own detriment).” /kga
