Ryan Reynolds is back, only this time not as Marvel superhero “Deadpool” but as Pikachu.
The most famous Pokémon gets an upgrade as he can now talk, and is also savvy-smart, as seen in the “Pokémon: Detective Pikachu” trailer released on the Warner Bros. Pictures Youtube page Monday, Nov. 12.
The movie revolves around the disappearance of a private eye named Harry Goodman, with his son Tim (played by Justice Smith) determined to find out what happened. Tim then teams up with Pikachu to get to the bottom of it all.
“Pokémon: Detective Pikachu” will also star “Big Little Lies” actress Kathryn Newton, who plays the role of a journalist accompanied by a Psyduck.
The film is directed by Rob Letterman, who helmed “Monsters vs. Aliens” and “Gulliver’s Travels”. “Pokémon: Detective Pikachu” is set for release on May 11, 2019 in the United States. JB
