Poe pays tribute to late OPM legend Rico J. Puno
A “total entertainer, an icon, and a shining symbol of Original Pilipino Music.”
This was how Senator Grace Poe remembered Rico J. Puno as she also mourned his sudden death on Tuesday.

Poe recalled the time when Rico J. was brought by her late father Fernando Poe Jr. in their house to serenade her mother Susan Roces.
“Kilig na kilig kami sa kanyang mga awitin na nagbigay ng inspirasyon sa maraming henerasyon ng mga Pilipino,” she said in a series of Twitter posts on Tuesday.

Poe complimented Rico J’s trademark voice saying, “Kakaiba ang boses ni Rico J. Kapag narinig mo ang tinig niya, alam mong siyang-siya.”
She also noted that even his remake of “Ang Huling El Bimbo” by Eraserheads was remarkable: “Maging ang bersyon niya ng mas bagong awitin gaya ng Ang Huling El Bimbo ng Eraserheads, katangi-tangi.”

The senator said not only Puno was a great singer, but also a joker. She added that he became a great host because he knew how to make the audiences laugh.

OPM icon Rico J. Puno died Tuesday morning because of heart failure. He was 65.
