After Janella Salvador revealed that her onscreen partner Elmo Magalona allegedly physically hurt her during an altercation, veteran talent manager Lolit Solis expressed her opinion about how the incident reflects a case of crisis management.
“If you answer an issue you validate the problem Salve,” wrote Solis on Instagram yesterday, Oct. 28. “Kaya kung sasagutin mo iyon (If you are going to answer the) issue, make sure you know where the wind blows. Not because sinagot mo (you answered) means you get the sympathy or the understanding you want.”
“In managing the image you should see the outcome on all [sides], at doon mo makikita kung sino ang mahusay sa crisis management dahil (and you will see who is good at crisis management because) they don’t just act carelessly, they wait for the proper timing,” she added.
In the case of Salvador and Magalona, Solis said that at first glance, one would think Salvador has the upper hand because people sympathize with “a battered girlfriend, a broken-hearted girl.”
“Pero after the reveal, people were asking, ‘bakit sinaktan?'” she stated. “Ganun na ba ka-intimate yong relasyon to the point na puwede mo saktan? Bakit si Janine Gutierrez hindi sinaktan?”
(But after the reveal, people were asking, “Why did Magalona hurt Salvador?” Is their relationship that intimate to the point that Magalona can hurt her? Why did he not hurt [Magalona’s ex-girlfriend] Janine Gutierrez?)
“Kasi nga usually iyon ganitong relasyon iyon lang usually good side ang ipinapakita, grabe na intimacy n’yo para ipakita ang bad side, so kung dumating na sa punto na may physical na, ano kayo mag-asawa na?” continued Solis.
(Because in [teen] relationships, usually, the good side is the only thing shown to the public. They may be very intimate for them to already show the bad side. So if it had come to the point that it becomes physical, what are you, husband and wife?)
Solis said that Salvador’s camp should have focused and played up on her reunion with her mother, singer Jenine Desiderio. She noted that the mother-daughter reunion is a more heart-tugging issue than a teen star being physically abused by her boyfriend.
“I hope I am wrong, pero pag ito hindi na handle ng mabuti, baka in the end lumabas pang talo si Janella dahil there is always one she will always [be] compared with regarding Elmo Magalona, si Janine Gutierrez,” Solis stated. “Let your think tank work overtime Janella, don’t lose this chance.”
(I hope I am wrong, but if this is not handled properly, Salvador may lose in the end because there is always one person whom she will always be compared with regarding Magalona — Gutierrez. Let your think tank work overtime Janella, don’t lose this chance.) JB
