Recognizing the matter as “very sensitive and important,” Wroblewitz noted that there’s still a long way to go before people can be open-minded on the subject.
“If you knew me personally, you’d know that I would never support, defend NOR even be friends with someone who sees being ‘gay,’ ‘lesbian,’ ‘transgender’ etc. as an insult,” the 20-year-old model said.
She added, “I’m all for equality and I still can’t fathom why some people are still not open to the thought of it.”
The Filipino-German personally praised Germany for legalizing same-sex marriage and hoped that more countries would do the same.
She also said that if she would tolerate people who tend to use “gay” as an insult, that would make her a hypocrite because many of her friends and family are from the LGBT community.
“Being in the LGBT community doesn’t make you less of a person, it actually shows how strong you are that you’re able to step out of that perfect ‘image’ that apparently everyone is supposed to be,” she added.
More than that, Wroblewitz stressed that those who body shame, bully and belittle disabled people are “just as bad” as those who denigrate the “gay” people.
“We are all the same. We are all human beings. So that’s how we should treat each other,” she added.
The model also noted her observation in the Philippines where “a lot of people put themselves down when they talk to a celebrity or someone with a big platform.”
Wroblewitz said celebrities shouldn’t be treated like they’re better than everyone else, adding “We all have feelings.”
To conclude, she said: “I will continue to spread positivity using my platform and I hope everyone else decides to do the same.”/muf/ac
