Eugene Domingo to make directorial debut with ‘Babae sa Septic Tank 3’
Eugene Domingo will be making her directorial debut in the third installment of the indie comedy film “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank.”
After the successes of the first two installments under director Marlon N. Rivera, the third movie in the franchise will have leading star Domingo take up directing duties, according to an Instagram post on Oct. 23.
The caption reads, “To all the fans of #angbabaesaseptictank #films, I invite you to follow ‘Eugene Domingo’ as she directs her first film. Continue watching!”
The post did not mention whether Domingo will reprise her role while she directs, nor was there any mention of Rivera’s and scriptwriter Chris Martinez’s involvement in the new project. It merely teased fans to stand by for additional details at a later date.
“Ang Babae sa Septic Tank” was an independently produced film that turned out to be a big hit among moviegoers. It premiered on July 21, 2011, and starred Domingo, JM de Guzman, Kean Cipriano and Cai Cortez. The film won the Best Picture award at the 7th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival. It also took home the awards for Best Screenplay, Audience Choice, Best Performance of an Actress (Domingo) and Best Director. Domingo also won the People’s Choice Awards – Favorite Actress award at the 6th Asian Film Awards in 2012.

Domingo reprised her role as the actress Romina, along with a new cast that included Joel Torre, Jericho Rosales and Agot Isidro.
