Netizens criticized Vice Ganda for his comments on Senator Leila de Lima during “It’s Showtime’s” Miss Q&A AnniBEKSary special aired on Saturday, Oct. 20.
This program’s Q&A portion featured “It’s Showtime” hosts as beauty queen candidates with Jugs Jugueta as Juggy Sta. Maria and Jhong Hilario as Alakdawn Zulueta, among others.
Vice Ganda asked Hilario to describe candidate number 1 Jugueta and he answered: “Mukha siyang tiwali.”
Co-host Anne Curtis-Smith asked what tiwali means where Vice Ganda replied with: “Parang corrupt.”
In another part of the program, Vice Ganda said: “Ang taray ni number 1 o, bloated si Leila De Lima. Mukhang nahiyang si Leila De Lima sa loob. May message ka ba kay Trillanes?”
Jugueta replied with: “Hoy, inaantay ka namin dito.”
This sparked negative reactions from netizens with a certain @skullohmania saying: “I just find it funny that after @itsShowtimeNa’s hosts performed acts that tackle societal issues including “bullying,” here is the ever arrogant @vicegandako making fun of the situation of senators de Lima and Trillanes.”
Singer Leah Navarro also shared her own sentiment on the matter: “@vicegandako Laughs at the expense of a Senator of the Republic illegally jailed on trumped-up charges who can’t be with her children, see her mother, attend Senate hearings, or go home after work is crass and unfunny.
