Melissa Ricks has been open about the challenges in her life, from dealing with her weight gain to being a single mom.
The celebrity mom and Star Circle Quest alumna posted a photo of her looking stunning in a teal off-shoulder dress yesterday, Oct. 21.
In another photo with daughter Kiera, she revealed her inner thoughts about her body and the significance of being able to confidently wear a dress that fit her.
“Usually when there’s big occasions I get a bit of anxiety or nahihiya ako pumunta (I get ashamed to go),” she said. “I always find it hard to find something to wear especially that I have gained a significant amount of [weight] since giving birth.”
“Dati umiiyak ako (I used to cry),” she said. “Some people turned me down for work, some treated me differently and would continuously tell me I should lose weight.”
“But right now what really matters to me is my [wellbeing], my peace of mind, my happiness and my child.”
“But I have finally accepted the fact that I’m not like [what] I used to be, and that’s absolutely fine,” she declared. “I used to be so worried what others thought of me, but now I realized that I have become so much more than just my looks.”
While absent from the showbiz scene, Ricks has been working on vlogs in her self-titled YouTube channel, which details her journey in motherhood and other aspects of her personal life.
With 31,000 subscribers and counting, Ricks is making her mark on the online platform and was recently chosen to be one of the 12 content creators under YouTube NextUp, which mentors local creators to boost their vlogs. JB
