This week sure is packed with interesting gigs, starting Oct. 17 with the return of the Black Cows at Strumm’s in Makati.
It is the first all-Filipino members band to play an almost exclusive Steely Dan repertoire. The band, in fact, is named after “Black Cow,” a track on Steely Dan’s most commercially successful album, 1977’s “Aja.”
The Black Cows, formed by Wowee Posadas (keyboards, vocals), performs only in select venues like 19 East and Strumm’s. The rest of its members are Pido Lalimarmo (vocals, guitar), Bolichie Suzara (bass), Gibson Viduya (drums), Gail Viduya (vocals), Drizzle Muñiz (vocals), Ronald Tomas (saxophone) and Rancis de Leon (saxophone).
Strumm’s is at 110 Jupiter, Makati, 1209 Metro Manila, with telephone number 895-4636.

Rounding out the members of Apartel–whose music is described as a collision between Kool & the Gang and the Manila Sound–are Ryan G (keyboards), Pat Sarabia (drums), Jun Lazo (bass), Coco Coo and Redge Concepcion (guitars) and Deej Rodriguez (percussion).
El Calle Food and Music Hall is at the 2nd floor of Newport Mall, Resorts World Manila, Pasay City, with telephone number 908-8888.
