MMFF completes ‘Magic 8’ entries

The executive committee of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) revealed on Tuesday the last four films chosen for the annual film competition which will be shown in cinemas starting December 25.

Among the new entries announced is Ten17P’s family romantic-comedy “Mary, Marry Me,” which was directed by RC Delos Reyes and stars Toni Gonzaga, Alex Gonzaga, and Sam Milby.

“One Great Love,” which stars Kim Chiu, Dennis Trillo, and JC De Vera, produced by Regal Entertainment, and directed by Enrico Quizon, also made it to the list.

Basketball player Ricci Rivero’s acting debut film, “Otlum,” a comedy-thriller produced by Horseshoe productions and directed by Jovinor Tan joins the official entries.

Also joining the Magic 8 entries is Heaven’s Best Entertainment’s family-drama “Rainbow Sunset,” a film directed by Joel Lamangan and stars Gloria Romero, Eddie Garcia, and Tony Mabesa.

The first four  films were announced in June by the MMFF selection committee based on script submission —horror-thriller “Aurora” by Viva Films/Aliud Entertainment, romantic-comedy “Girl in the Orange Dress” by Quantum Films/MJM Productions/Star Cinema, fantasy-comedy “Fantastica: The Princesses, The Prince and the Perya” by ABS-CBN Productions/Viva Films, and action-comedy “Jack Em Popoy ‘Da PulisCredibles” by CCM Film Production/MZET Production/APT Entertainment.

The awards night will be held on December 27 at The Solaire, Parañaque City. MMFF 2018 will run from December 25, 2018 to January 7, 2019. /ee
