Every school has its urban legends, but what if one of them were real?

“Eerie,” directed by Mikhail Red (“Birdshot,” “Neomanila”), peers into the mystery behind the death of a student through the eyes of guidance counselor Pat (Bea Alonzo).

The movie dropped its first full trailer last Oct. 4 and indeed, there is something amiss in this Catholic school beyond the usual myths.

It paints a bleak picture of an all-girls school run by nuns, who are led by a harsh Mother Superior (Charo Santos-Concio). As Pat tries to uncover the truth behind the school’s urban myths—including one in which a student killed herself in a comfort room—she summons witnesses from beyond the grave.

A dark atmosphere fills the scenes as the trailer manages to tease the suspense with Pat’s otherworldly encounters and the school’s dark secrets.

“Eerie” also stars Maxene Magalona and Jake Cuenca. The film will have its world premiere at the Singapore International Film Festival, which will be held from Nov. 28 to Dec. 9.  /ra
