Even the movie stars are betting on the lottery in hopes of winning the Ultra Lotto 6/58 jackpot, which now stands at a whopping P1 billion. There is no harm in trying, after all, which is why Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) lottery stations throughout the country have seen droves of bettors trying their luck at becoming a billionaire.
Actor-singer DJ Durano recently took to social media to share to his fans that he was just two numbers away from winning the prize.
“Dalawa nalang di pa binigay!” Durano wrote on Instagram on Oct. 6 where he shared a picture of his lottery ticket. “Dami ko sana natulungan.”
Actress Bianca Gonzalez is another hopeful even as she wished fellow bettors good luck.
“Grabe yung 1B,” Gonzalez wrote on Twitter last Oct. 9. “Sinong tumaya din sa lotto? Good luck sa tin!”

Singer-actor Ronnie Liang also shared with his fans last Oct. 5 some pictures of him betting at a lottery station where he posed with his tickets.
“Sinubukan ko pong tumaya 849 million na pala ang 6/58,” Liang shared. “Baka sakali po manalo din. #lotto #goodluck #jackpot.”
Many others have had a go on the lottery too, one of whom was broadcaster and news anchor Korina Sanchez who shared to her fans last Oct. 3 that she tried for the first time, but unfortunately did not win.
Her loss didn’t dampen her spirits, however, as she told her fans that she would be betting again.
Even President Rodrigo Duterte himself wasn’t exempted when it was revealed recently by Special Assistant to the President Christoper “Bong” Go that the President asked him to bet 18 combinations for the Ultra Lotto.
“18 po yung combinations na pinataya niya sa akin last week. Hindi nanalo,” Go shared in a report last Oct. 4. “Actually, ako dalawa last week tapos siya 18. Kasi nag-usap nga kami, sabi ko malay mo manalo tayo dahil si Mayor Digong, nung Mayor siya nanalo siya e.”
The more entries, the more chances of winning? It’s palpable that many people want to be billionaires so freaking bad.
PCSO shared on Oct. 8, Monday, that winning the P1-billion jackpot is a one in a 40 million chance or 1 in 40.4 million, to be exact. The P1-billion prize comes as the biggest jackpot prize in PCSO history, followed by the P741 million prize, which was won back in 2010. /ra
