Korina Sanchez received widespread criticism for having former Presidential Communications Operations Office Assistant Secretary (PCOO-Asec) Mocha Uson in yesterday’s episode of her television show “Rated K”. She later defended Uson’s guesting in the show, stating that Uson is “news material.”

“Hello all! Thank you! I read all your comments approving and disapproving. I respect it all,” wrote Sanchez in a Facebook post yesterday, Oct. 7. “I feel your sentiments — as I try to respect everyone’s opinions and choices.”

“As a journalist, it is a duty to air material for all,” she added. “I make no editorials about Mocha either way.”

“She is news material and we air what she has to say with no opinions,” she said, explaining why she chose to interview Uson despite the bad blood between her husband Manuel “Mar” Roxas and Uson. She also encouraged her fans to watch the episode first before making their judgments on the matter.

Sanchez’s explanation, however, did not appease some netizens. Once again, they made use of the comments section to express their disapproval of Uson’s guesting in the show.

“You respect all the comments but these are two things that are glaring: you don’t respect yourself and your husband and you think the Filipino audience are (sic) stupid. Now I realize why a lot of people hate you,” stated one commenter, Dennis Heruela.

Another commenter, Aida David, asserted that Sanchez has the choice to whoever will be invited in “Rated K”.

One Facebook user, Luz Gonzales, pointed out that that the show has the responsibility of not featuring a personality known for manufacturing fake news and lies. Gonzales said Sanchez’s decision to prioritize ratings and money over her principles is the reason why Sanchez’s fans decreased.

But Sanchez’s fans rallied behind her.

There are those who lauded Sanchez’s professionalism and objectivity in the interview.
