“Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind.”

So the famous line goes in “Lilo & Stitch”—and it seems that the film is not getting left behind in Disney’s roster of live-action remakes, as per The Hollywood Reporter.

The 2002 animated film centered on two orphaned sisters, Nani and Lilo, and the endearing extraterrestrial, Stitch, who invades their lives in Hawaii.

Mike Van Waes, whose credentials include being a story analyst for DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures, has been tapped to write the script. The same producers of the “Aladdin” live adaptation, Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback, will helm the film.

A release date has yet to be announced.

Disney has been adapting its classic animated films into live-action versions including “Cinderella,” “Jungle Book” and “Beauty and the Beast.” Upcoming projects include “Aladdin,” “Mulan” and “The Lion King.”  Niña V. Guno /ra
