Mocha Uson has stirred strong reactions after she announced her resignation on today, Oct. 3.
The now-former assistant communications secretary stepped down from her post, claiming that the budget of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) was being stalled because of her.
Uson said that it was the consequence of stepping on lawmakers’ toes, and that resigning was a sacrifice on her end.

Pro-Duterte blogger Drew Olivar had encouraging words for Uson. “Yehey nagresign na si MOCHA!!! SIMULA NA NG LABAN!!! Magkakalabasan na ng BAHO. TAPOS na ang paghihirap mo madam.” (Yay Mocha resigned! The fight begins! The stench will be exposed. Your struggles are over, madam.)
Olivar has been part of recent controversies that involved Uson, such as when he performed the “Pepedederalismo” jingle and when he mocked the use of sign language in Uson’s vlogs.

Another administration supporter Sass Sasot said, “Mocha Uson’s resignation speech at the Senate is not a white flag but a warning gun shot. Salamat (Thank you) Mocha.”

Some celebrities found little solace in her resignation after her stint which was riddled with controversy along with a blog which shared false information. They posted their reactions via Twitter today.
“Dearie, we made the ultimate sacrifice while you were in office,” actress Agot Isidro said. “Anoba (Come on).”
“About time, but a bit too late, damage done. Uson did nothing to bring honor to her appointment. She could have, but didn’t,” tweeted singer Leah Navarro.

“Nag junket muna sa New York bago nag-resign,” noted musician Jim Paredes. (She went on a junket in New York first, before resigning.)

Uson was well-traveled while in her post as the agency’s assistant secretary. Last Sept. 2017, she went to a United Nations General Assembly in New York. Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said that the PCOO shouldered her expenses.

There were those who were thrilled with the news, like actor and poet Juan Miguel Severo who simply wrote of the news: “OH MY GOD YES.”

“The pimple has popped,” tweeted musician BP Valenzuela.
Comedian Ethel Booba had some advice: “Pag magreresign kayo antayin nyo muna makuha ang 13th month pay. 3 to 6 months pa naman ang back pay. Charot!”

But like others, Ethel was skeptical of the move: “Malapit na ang filing of candidacy kasi.” (Filing of candidacy is near.)
True enough, Uson said she wouldn’t close her doors to running in the 2019 elections.
“Masyado talaga tayong maagang magbunyi minsan e,” tweeted Severo. “’Wag na lang natin siyang iboto pls.”
