Another Filipino has wowed the judges and audience of “The X Factor UK” recently for her showstopping performance. When transwoman Sephy Francisco walked on stage for her audition, X Factor judges Simon Cowell, Louis Tomlinson, Ayda Field and Robbie Williams had no inkling that she carried within her the great force of two people.
Francisco chose to sing “The Prayer” in her performance, sharing to the judges, “Because everything I do, I feel I’m guided by the Lord.”
The video of Francisco’s audition was uploaded by the official YouTube account of “The X Factor UK” last Sept. 15. In the video, Francisco can be seen starting off her performance by first singing Celine Dion’s parts.
But much to everybody’s surprise and awe, Francisco also sang Andrea Bocelli’s parts, prompting the audience to go wild.
The judges, on the other hand, were nothing short of astonished. They gave her a standing ovation, plus two thumbs up from the hard-to-please Simon Cowell.
“Wow! Wow! Well, that was a surprise,” gushed Field.
Cowell, meanwhile, said, “I’ve never judged a duo who’s one person. This is incredible!”
It was no surprise that Francisco got four yeses from the judges, who instantly gave her their approval without second thought. Francisco, on the other hand, looked tearful as she thanked the audience and judges.
“Thank you so much, I’m so happy, I’m so happy,” said Francisco in gratitude. “Thank you everyone!”
This wasn’t the first time Francisco blew people away with her talent. Earlier in January, Francisco impressed the judges and audience of South Korean game show “I Can See Your Voice” when she also sang her rendition of “The Prayer.”
Francisco shared then that her talent enabled her to provide for her family, who used to be poor. “I really want to pursue my dreams to be a singer and to inspire others.”
Francisco will now be joining 17-year-old Filipino Maria Laroco, who also brought the house down and got the judges’ approval in her X Factor audition last Sept. 8.
Congratulations, Sephy! Pinoy pride, indeed! /ra
