Fitness enthusiast and actress Iya Villania is currently on her 38th week (about 8.7 months) of pregnancy. While waiting for her contractions to start, the TV celebrity chose to spend her time working out.
“Week 38, Day 2. Had an ultrasound today and came from the OB to check on things and everything seems to be good. Head down, no cord coil and good heartbeat. Thank you, Lord!” wrote Villania in one of her Instagram Stories she shared last Tuesday, Aug. 14. She and her husband, Drew Arellano, were just waiting for their second child, Leon’s, delivery.
“My placenta is Grade III, indicating [its] maturity and the maturity of Leon’s lungs meaning he’s good to go and that we’re simply just waiting on contractions.”
But what did Villania exactly do to entertain herself while waiting for labor to start? She did a jumping rope workout.
“So my doc said to go ahead and workout all I want. I asked if I could jump rope and she said yes! It’s 9:50 p.m. and Leon is still not showing signs. He must be happy in there,” she joked.
In her other Instagram Stories on Tuesday, Villania encouraged mothers to be themselves and do what makes them happy no matter what other people say.
“For the mamas who wish they could move and do as much as I do but can’t due to complications, it’s okay. I’m not here to seek attention or make anyone feel bad,” said Villania. “Every pregnancy is different for every mama! I’m just making the most of this pregnancy coz who knows how the next will be!”
Villania revealed a vulnerable side of her in her post. She said that she’s hoping and praying everyday that Leon is happy, healthy and safe, and that everything she was doing was right. She stated that she’s also hopeful that she can be an example for those who are afraid and are limited by “the voices of the world.”
“All a mama would want is the best for her baby and family, and should anything go wrong, the blame should most definitely not be put on the mother,” noted Villania. “I know many doubt my choices but I believe God has designed our bodies in such an amazing way that it will tell you when there are things you need to be wary of.”
She reminded soon-to-be-mothers to respect their bodies as well as the signs they ought to look out for: “So mamas you do you and what you think is best for your baby, your family and yourself! Coz a happy mama is a happy home.”
It seems Villania has no plans of stopping her workout just because she’s near her due date. Yesterday, she opted for a run in the morning.
Later yesterday, the host went back to the gym to workout.
Deciding to do snatch exercises which involves weightlifting, Iya Villania did snatch push press, snatch balance, overhead squat and back squat with three-second hold.
Villania’s strength ought to assure her fans, fellow mothers and even herself, that we can all anticipate the coming of a strong baby Leon. JB
