Moira Dela Torre has come a long way since she began her foray into the music industry back in 2013. Dela Torre then joined “The Voice,” but was eliminated early on. She, however, continued to persevere, eventually becoming a familiar name when her song “Malaya,” the theme song for director Irene Villamor’s “Camp Sawi” in 2016, became a constant radio favorite.
Her experiences, whether good or bad, sure have allowed Dela Torre to give her own fair share of wisdom to songwriters and singers like her. Dela Torre took to her Twitter last Aug. 11 to share to her fans why she started writing songs in the first place.
“I was asked today why I write the way I write/sing the way I sing… and why I keep doing it amidst the haters,” wrote Dela Torre. “Well… 1 of the reasons why I started writing in the 1st place was so that I could sing songs without feeling bad bec my voice wasn’t high enough.”

Truth be told, nobody is perfect. And Dela Torre, despite her success and triumphs, knows her own blind spots.
In a later tweet made the same day, Dela Torre hoped that songwriters would find the “confidence” in writing their own music, as well as find their own sound without having to pressure themselves to fit a certain mold.
“At the end of the day, I hope you find confidence in writing your own music and finding your own sound without the pressure of having to fit in to ‘make it.'”
At the end of the day, i hope you find confidence in writing your own music and finding your own sound without the pressure of having to fit in to ''make it". Because you are amazing and were created for such a time as this. No one can ever give what only you can give ♥️ (2/2)

“Because you are amazing and were created for such a time as this,” Dela Torre continued to say. “No one can ever give what only you can give.”
Lastly, Dela Torre expressed her wishes for her music: that it would inspire and empower.
“My wish is that my music would serve as an inspiration that you can do and succeed in ANYTHING you set your heart to do,” said Dela Torre.
“I never want me or my music to take away the essence of who you are but to empower you even just in a little way. Love you, I believe in you. You got this.”

Dela Torre recently made her own rendition of the classic OPM song “Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko” by Rey Valera. Her version was used as the official theme song of “The Hows of Us,” a romance drama directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina starring power love team Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla. /ra
