Young actress Michelle Vito relates that the toughest scenes in their film, Roderick Lindayag’s “Dito Lang Ako,” are the 1970s throwbacks. “It was hard because we were not familiar with how people talked and moved during that time,” she explains. “We had to change our personalities and be our characters.”
Michelle and costars Jon Lucas and Akihiro Blanco did a little research, too. “Our director also guided us during the shoot. That was a big help.”
She asserts: “The millennials should see how things were before. Like, how boys would make harana (serenade) the girls they liked. How they would write love letters to each other. How important it is to wait for the right one.”
It’s not just about romance, though. “It’s also about family, work, about raising your children,” she notes. “Hopefully, with this film, the new generation would realize the good things about our old ways and decide to bring them back.” —BAYANI SAN DIEGO JR.
