Lolit Solis is one person who has perhaps been in the know about almost everything in Philippine show biz, both good and bad. The seasoned Solis is known for many things, mainly as a veteran talent manager and sassy columnist, often the go-to person for the latest goings-on and scoops about one’s favorite celebrity.

But a career in show biz that has spanned decades doesn’t go without its own fair share of haters. And Solis, who has pretty much earned her tenure in Philippine show biz, receives bashing every now and then.

Solis took to her Instagram last Aug. 5 to give a piece of her mind regarding bashers.

“Alarming minsan iyon mga comment na ginagawa ng bashers Salve ha. Napaka passionate at fiery ng kanilang mga comment na wish mo sana ganun sila sa buhay nila. Iyon wish mo na sana ganun din passion na ibigay nila sa sarili nila para sa sarili nilang buhay.”

Solis shared a screenshot of bashers’ comments, where one cursed her for her “bullsh*t” write-ups and negativity.

Solis, however, took this with a grain of salt and instead wrote how scary some people’s hatred can be. “Nakakatakot dahil hindi mo maintindihan kung saan galing, how can they hate that much over something na sinulat mo or binigyan mo ng opinyon.”

And it does make sense. Hatred, it seems, doesn’t come from a vacuum. Where does it  stem from?

Solis, too, added that while envy can kill and destroy friendships, it is “hatred na walang basis” that seems to be more dangerous.

“Good human study ang social media dahil you judge something from what you read, you see, without personally seeing that person, without experiencing who they really are, what they are.”

Sayang energy na binibigay nila bashing people they don’t know, sana iyon ang energy na iyon bigay nila sa buhay nila to be better,” Solis further said.

She, too, knows now why there are lots of losers in the world. “They hate without any reason, they give their comments without comprehension, they just do it blindly, shooting the moon.”

Gracefully, Solis ended her post by saying she would be praying for her bashers: “Sana they won’t be people getting older but refusing to grow up. I pray for them.”

At the age of 71, Solis sure has enough wisdom to share after being flayed many times in the past—and being pikon isn’t one of them. It’s taking the high road.  /ra
