A new hero is set to rise during the country’s darkest times—and his name is General Gregorio del Pilar.
Paolo Avelino will carry on fighting for the Philippines as he plays the legendary young general in “Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral,” whose full trailer was released Saturday.
In the trailer, Del Pilar is seen being looked up to by everyone as he is picked by Emilio Aguinaldo (Mon Confiado) to lead the fight against the Americans. But it appears that he is being called the President’s dog who always follows his every order.
Another aspect seen was Del Pilar’s lady love, portrayed by Gwen Zamora. It is undeniable that the two share a love for each other in the film with their palpable chemistry.
Also featured are Carlo Aquino, Arron Villaflor, who returns as Joven Hernando, and Epi Quizon as another hero—Apolinario Mabini.
“Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral” is directed by Jerold Tarrog, who is also behind 2015’s smash hit “Heneral Luna.” Catch how Del Pilar will lead the revolution when the movie hits theaters Sept. 5. /ra
