Diego Loyzaga topped a race car competition last Sunday, July 29 at Filinvest City, Alabang, an achievement that the young actor refers to as a surreal “dream come true.”
“It was my dream to be a race car driver since I was a kid,” he revealed in an Instagram post.
His car racing journey began when Toyota tapped him to be a celebrity driver in the Vios Cup Season 5.
In the qualifying round, where he competed against fellow celebrities under the Promotional/Celebrity Class, Loyzaga placed second, narrowly beaten by Sam Milby last July 28, Saturday.
Loyzaga would come out on top on race day, July 29, zooming 14 laps in one hour and 20 minutes (1:20.741).
“I was first in our class. I was at a loss for words. Kinda even got teary-eyed. My heart was beating so fast,” he recalled.
“Have you ever seen or felt your dream unfold and see it in front of you? That was me this weekend,” Loyzaga said. “This has to be one of the most fulfilling things I’ve done in my life so far.”
The first leg of the race was held at Clark International Speedway in Pampanga last April. About 52 racers joined the second leg in Alabang. The final leg will also be held in Clark. JB
