Carla Abellana, Tom Rodriguez meet ‘Mulan’, ‘Lion King’ animator Mark Henn

Tom Rodriguez and girlfriend Carla Abellana had the opportunity to meet Disney supervising animator Mark Henn at Hyatt City of Dreams Manila yesterday, July 28.
“May excited makilala ang isa sa mga iniidolo niya,” wrote Abellana in an Instagram photo she posted of Rodriguez who appears to be busy doodling on his iPad. “Hindi halata pero sobrang kinakabahan yan.”
(There’s someone [Rodriguez] excited to meet one of the people [he] idolizes. It’s not obvious but [he’s] really nervous.)

In another post, Abellana finally revealed that they were meeting Henn. She shared a candid photo of the two who appeared to be having a good time talking to each other.

The actress also contemplated on the same shoe brand Rodriguez and Henn used. “Great minds… wear the same brand of shoes?” Abellana mused.

Abellana posted two more photos of her and Rodriguez, who is beaming at the camera, alongside Henn, holding up a sketch of “Lion King” character Simba.

Aside from his acting skills, Rodriguez is also known for his talent in drawing. The actor showed photos of his sketches on his own Instagram page.

Meanwhile, Mark Henn, one of the most popular animators at Disney, is known for his works which include Ariel in “The Little Mermaid”, Belle in “Beauty and the Beast”, Princess Jasmine in “Aladdin”, young Simba in “The Lion King”, Princess Tiana in “The Princess and the Frog”, and the title characters in “Mulan” and “Pochantos”. The supervising animator also worked as the lead two-dimension (2D) animator on Academy Award for Best Animated Feature winners “Big Hero 6” and “Frozen”.
Henn is currently in the Philippines for the AsiaPOP Comicon this weekend at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. JB
