Vic Sotto said that Maine Mendoza didn’t need much convincing to join the cast of his 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival entry, “Popo En Jack: The Puliscredibles.”

“She felt it was a good project. She will be taking on a challenging role, and it’s something she hasn’t done yet,” he told reporters at a cocktail party hosted by Smart Music Live just a few hours before Celine Dion’s second show at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

“I believe this is the first time she will do a film solo or without a love team. So it will really put her acting to test,” added Vic, who related that shooting is set to start in August.

Maine’s last movie was “Meant to Beh,” in which she and Alden Richards had a special participation.

The comedy flick will likewise have Vic working with Coco Martin. “We have been wanting to do this for about two to three years now. ’Di lang matuluy-tuloy. As you know, we’re from different networks, but we’re friends with everyone. We’re both very excited about it.”

“It will be entertaining and funny. And with Coco in it, there will surely be action scenes,” Vic said.

Tennis fans

The television host-actor also talked about his recent trip to the United Kingdom with his wife, Pauleen Luna.

The show biz couple attended tennis matches at the recently concluded Wimbledon tournament.

“We’re both tennis fans. And we were invited by Mr. (Tony) Tuviera, so syempre, sama agad!” he said.

Pauleen chimed in, saying the vacation was “very relaxing” for them.

“It was our first time in Europe together, and it was fun. We left Baby Tali with her grandma. We really missed her, but I think it’s healthy that Vic and I still get to have time alone together,” she related.

Asked if they feel like trying for another baby, Pauleen quipped, “Why not?” to which Vic jested: “Pwede rin. Alam mo naman, palaban ako!”
