Tony Labrusca did not know what he was getting himself into upon meeting Eddie Garcia in “ML.”
In the upcoming movie, Labrusca plays Carlo, a college freshman seeking to prove his frustrated history professor that the dark days of Martial Law was not bad. He then meets an old colonel (Garcia), who is a recluse and lives alone in Carlo’s neighborhood, as seen in the movie’s first trailer released Friday.
With the help of his best friend Jaze (Henz Villaraiz) and girlfriend Pats (Liane Valentino), they then visit the colonel to interview him—not knowing that it may put their lives in danger.
“ML” serves as Labrusca’s debut on the big screen. Meanwhile, the movie is also Garcia’s comeback onto the Cinemalaya scene, where he has won two Best Actor awards—”ICU Bed #7″ in 2005 and “Bwakaw” in 2012.
The new suspense thriller is directed by Benedict Mique. Catch “ML” when it hits theaters on Aug. 3. It will run until Aug. 12, as it is one of the finalists for this year’s Cinemalaya Film Festival to be held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines and selected cinemas. /ra
