Australian actress Katherine Langford bid her tragic “13 Reasons Why” character adieu recently in an Instagram post that depicts the chalkboard memorial for her deceased character, Hannah Baker.
She wrote, “‘Hannah … I love you … and I let you go.’ Those are the words I was able to say six months ago, and now can finally share with you as my journey in [‘13 Reasons Why’] has officially come to an end. As most of you know, this was my first-ever job, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to tell Hannah’s story so fully in Season 1, and to be asked back for Season 2.”
She proceeded to thank fans, and assured them: “I know that I will continue to strive to do work that is meaningful and has a positive impact—whether that be in film, music or any other form of art. There is a lot coming up next year, and I can’t wait to share it with you.”
A third season of the popular teen show is scheduled for streaming next year.
In another post, Langford stated her gratitude for being able to work as an actor, after attending the Women In Film LA event. She said in the caption, “I feel so lucky to have started acting at such a pinnacle time for change, and cannot be more thankful and grateful to those who have lived before me [for] breaking barriers, empowering others, and proving that dreams have no gender. Thank you for kicking down doors and holding them open so women like me … can have a brighter future. You are my heroes.”—OLIVER PULUMBARIT
