Dubsmash Queen Maine Mendoza is breaking out of her lip-syncing throne to sing live — Universal Records Philippines confirmed last week that the phenomenal star has signed with the record label.
Universal Records shared via Instagram #TheBigReveal video introducing Mendoza as their latest singer. Wearing a black faux leather jacket with the words “UNIVERSAL” scribbled on the back, as well as a cartoonized pink ice cream with a cherry on top, Mendoza beamed as she posed for the camera. At one point, the words, “She’s ready,” appeared on the screen.
Neocolours’ vocalist and composer Ito Rapadas also shared the news via Twitter last Sunday, June 24. Posting a photo of himself with Mendoza, Rapadas announced that he will be the over-all producer for the Dubsmash Queen’s upcoming album.

The confirmation came following the speculations surrounding an Instagram post by Universal Records on June 11. The record label uploaded a photo of a woman with her back turned while wearing the above-mentioned jacket.
Diehard fans of the Mendoza were quick to identify her and comment that it was indeed the phenomenal star on the photo.
One Mendoza fan, mylene gomez (@rdc_05), begged the record label to reveal the mysterious new singer, if she was indeed Mendoza. The ardent fan claimed she cannot focus in doing her daily tasks after seeing the photo.
Another avid fan, malou (@espeletamalou), stated that Mendoza signing with Universal is a dream come true for for fans like her, who had been waiting for an album from the Dubsmash Queen.
Maine Mendoza showed that she can sing when she recorded the soundtrack “Imagine You and Me” for her and Alden Richards’ 2016 movie of the same title.
Earlier this month, the Dubsmash Queen sang The Carpenters’ greatest hits alongside the Broadways Boys of Eat Bulaga. JB
