Anne Curtis’ upcoming action movie “BuyBust” will make its debut on the international stage.

The Subway Cinema, which operates the critically acclaimed New York Asian Film Festival, announced on its official website that the Erik Matti flick has been chosen as this year’s closing film.

“BuyBust” tells the story of drug-enforcement agent Nina Manigan, who goes to the dangerous slums of Manila, where the illegal drug trade is rampant. She suddenly finds herself trapped in the area when an operation suddenly goes wrong.

The film also boasts having 309 stuntmen and 1,278 extras while filming. “This is the toughest shoot I’ve ever done. And yes, this is ambitious,” Matti wrote in a Facebook post back in November.

The New York Asian Film Festival, now in its 17th year, features the best films from selected countries in Asia. This year’s festival will run from June 29 to July 15.

Meanwhile, Filipino audiences can catch “BuyBust” in local theaters on Aug. 1.  /ra
