Hook up, make ads, break up–that was crude, dudes

JENNYLYN Mercado a “curse” to men?

So they’ve broken up.

Well, it was a very unlikely coupling to begin with, and hardly anyone believed it. Soon after the big “reveal” it became clear, for all of show biz to see (and snicker about – “Hah! Told you so!”) that it was a union for convenience with commercial projects as centerpiece.

A few weeks ago, initial ripples of discontent were floated in several programs on the radio station of their home network. They had little time together, blah, blah, blah, and we thought, ayan na.

FEATURED STORIES

Early this week, ayan na talaga – bye-bye, love. And of course we heard the news on … several programs on the radio station of their home network! Readers, next time something in your gut says a show biz romance isn’t so, don’t dismiss that little voice.

Pretty Star looks sooo sweet and often plays put-upon martyrs onscreen. Turns out, she’s mean, spiteful and a prima donna in the making. A mole swears by what he saw on the set of a big project: PS refused to work until Hapless Producers fired fellow young stars who had incurred the spoiled girl’s ire.

Drama Star and Semi-Retired Actress have been longtime rivals, on- and off-screen. When news broke that TV5 was courting SA, her fans rejoiced. Would they be as jubilant now that SA’s negotiations with the network have stalled? Worse, DS is being wooed by the station to top-bill a public-service show.

Award-winning Actress was all set to jump ship and join TV5. Unfortunately, her current project with a rival station is still ongoing. AA’s departure was delayed. Drum-beaters, however, made the ultimate booboo: A premature announcement. AA got in trouble with her present bosses. Her handlers had to zip it!

Unrecognizable

File this under Urban Legend: Hunky Actor refused to show off his private parts in an “art” film decades ago. Quick-thinking Director used a body double to stand in. When HA’s Gay Friend saw the rushes, he complained: “That’s not HA! That’s not his b*”#^!” (The voice of experience.) QD and HA reshot the controversial scene. Cinema verite, anyone?

Helping hand

Still on HA and his daring striptease: Feeling pressured on the day of the reshoot, HA couldn’t “stand up and deliver.” Remember that this incident occurred ages before Viagra. A female staffer gave HA a helping hand … and HA was ready for his close-up.

Glee @ Emmys

CHARICE

LOS ANGELES – “Glee” star Jane Lynch will host the Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony in September, organizers of the television industry’s top honors said on Thursday. Lynch, 50, won an Emmy last year for her role as scheming high school cheerleader coach Sue Sylvester on the Fox musical comedy series. The actress said she was “tickled pink” to be hosting the 2011 ceremony, to be televised live from LA September 18. “I’m looking forward to singing, dancing and sporting my finest tracksuit,” she quipped in a statement.
