Erik Matti praises Anne Curtis for her acting chops: ‘She’s a star!’

Erik Matti had nothing but praises for his “Buy Bust” star, Anne Curtis.

The director reminisced about all the “crazy” things he and the movie’s team asked Curtis to do. This he said as he shared on Instagram Wednesday a photo  of the actress looking focused as she shot.

“She’s a star!” Matti exclaimed. He bared the “unconventional things” he asked Curtis to do: “To ask her to be dragged on a table full of breakables, to light her on fire with no double, to demand 3 days of grueling 57 takes of 3-minute one tracking shot all night through with rain, jumps, punches and kicks is not at all easy.”

“Stars who are willing to do what it takes for certain roles they feel are memorable, just like Nora (Aunor) and Vilma (Santos), are not too many,” the director said.

He went on: “Others will have too many rules. Some will take shortcuts and not break out a drop of sweat.” Matti added that some actors would spend more time looking at mirrors than doing actual scenes; he also said that most actors would think that “that is already what commitment means.”

Matti said that judging by Curtis’ roles in her new movie “Sid and Aya: Not a Love Story” and a new horror flick coming, he said she was the “real deal.” He mused: “She’s a celebrity second. And a really good actor first.”

Reciprocating his kind words, Curtis was thankful “a million times over” for Matti’s kind words.

“I could never be more grateful for allowing this script to fall into my lap,” Curtis expressed. “Actually the craziness of #BUYBUST is one for the books! Can’t wait to see how it’s come to life!”
