Mother’s Day yesterday, May 13, definitely saw people celebrating the occasion with their beloved families. For Isabelle Daza, honoring her mother included sharing some trivia about her that others may not know, showing that they, too, have a normal mother-daughter relationship — even if her mother happens to be the first Filipino to ever win the Miss Universe crown.
Daza took to her Instagram Stories yesterday to share the trivia about her mom, the ageless Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz.
“One word that perfectly describes your mom: No filter,” revealed Daza. It’s hardly surprising, though, as Diaz is known to be an outspoken woman who stands her ground. Daza added, “A phrase your mom always says: ‘I have a friend…’ A #MommyMove your mom always does: Pouts her lips.”
In one funny Instagram Story, Daza shared an advice that her mother imparted to her at one point in her life. “What are three qualities that a woman should look for in a partner? ‘Do you know that saying, ‘Wag kang matakot sa multo, matakot ka sa kuripot (Don’t be scared of ghosts, be scared of a tightwad),’” wrote Daza, sharing her mother’s seeming play on the original saying “Wag kang matakot sa multo, matakot ka sa buhay.” (Don’t be scared of ghosts, be scared of the living.)
And while Daza had only given birth a month ago, it seems she is already easing into motherhood. In another Instagram Story, Daza shared a clip of her lying in bed at 3 a.m., still awake. “Ano na? Eto (What now? Here)… Happy mother’s night. 3:22 am. Zzzzz… yeah right.”
Sleep? No mother knows sleep in the presence of newborns. Such is one of the sacrifices of motherhood, but it’s all worth it in the end, as Daza can attest. JB
