Chandler Riggs

Teen actor Chandler Riggs’ days as young zombie apocalypse survivor Carl Grimes in “The Walking Dead” are over. Now, he’s working as Eclipse, a DJ with a fast-growing following.

“Acting is super awesome and fun, but I really express myself through music,” Riggs told Sidewalk Talk on YouTube recently.

In the interview, the 18-year-old talked about learning an instrument that helped him during time off from filming, before the horror show became a hit.

“Drumming is so hard. But I want to get back into it, take more lessons,” said Riggs, who never considered forming or joining a band back then. “It was kind of just…my own thing. And I don’t really have any friends [who] play the other instruments.”

Problems

Riggs recalled dealing with problems caused by his acting schedule around that time: “None of my teachers were supportive at all. They just thought I was skipping class. It was not a fun time. So that was when my parents got me homeschooled…I became antisocial and lost all my friends.”

Years later, he found himself studying in a traditional environment again.

“I went back to school for the end of eighth grade and for all of high school, which was awesome,” the teen actor recalled. “It gave me something to work towards. It was cool.”—OLIVER PULUMBARIT
