Veteran comedian Michael V took one netizen’s comment in stride when he was told his jokes are only popular with old and baduy people. The unwarranted comment came after Michael V took to his Instagram page last April 30 to share a joke with his followers.
In the video, Michael V appeared to be chewing something in his mouth while holding a packet in his hand, when a woman in the background asked him, “Ikaw ba ang kumuha ng chocolate?” (Did you eat the chocolate?)
Michael V then turned the packet around to show the camera that he was in fact holding a Whittaker’s chocolate bar in his hand. In a high-pitched voice, he replied, “Ayyy, Whittaker’s.”
He pronounced “Whittaker’s” as “Wit (hindi) akers (ako)” which, when translated from gay lingo, means “Hindi ako.” (Not me.)
While some netizens found his pun-ny joke laughable and witty, a certain Gabriel (@bathingabe) commented, saying, “Constructive criticism, yung jokes mo patok na lang sa mga matatanda at baduy na tao.” (Constructive criticism: your jokes are now a hit only to old people and those with bad taste.)
“You’re going to have to be more specific than that to affect me,” wrote Michael V back to the netizen. “… I saw your profile, hindi ka matanda. I thank God sa pagbisita ng mga taong kagaya mo… ‘yung ipinagmamalaki ang pagiging BADUY nila. Expect more jokes for people like you. Kasama ka sa nagpapayaman sa ‘kin.”
(I saw your profile, you’re not old. I thank God for visits from people like you, who are proud of having bad taste. Expect more jokes for people like you. You are among those who make me rich.)
The netizen was seemingly quiet after Michael V’s comment, with the latter writing to him again, “Antagal mo sumagot? Natawa ka ‘no?” (You took a long while to reply. You laughed, right?)
All joking aside, however, Michael V told the netizen that he disagrees with him, saying talentless people wouldn’t last 20 years in the entertainment industry. “Trust me, hindi tatagal ng more than 20 years sa industriya ‘yung mga walang talent (those who have no talent won’t last in the industry for more than 20 years). You’re welcome to take a shot if you want to prove me wrong. I’ll see you in 20!”
Meanwhile, the netizen’s comment has since been deleted. JB
