Amazon orders 2nd season of upcoming ‘Jack Ryan’ series starring John Krasinski

Although the first season doesn’t premiere until Aug. 31, Amazon has already renewed its forthcoming “Jack Ryan” series for a second season, with filming set to start this summer.

“Jack Ryan” is one of the most eagerly-awaited series of the year, so much so that Amazon has already ordered a second season of the show before it has even hit screens.

Season two of “Jack Ryan” will comprise eight episodes and will once again star American actor John Krasinski in the title role. Wendell Pierce (“The Wire”) will also return as James Greer. Production is due to start this summer in Europe, South America and the United States.

In this second season, the young CIA analyst Jack Ryan will confront “the forces in power in a dangerous, declining democratic regime in South America.”

This new series, based on the spy novels by Tom Clancy, is one of the most eagerly awaited shows coming to the American streaming platform Amazon Prime, which is establishing itself as a rival for Netflix.

Season one will be available from Aug. 31. Abbie Cornish (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”) and French actress Marie-Josée Croze (“Tell No One”) join John Krasinski on the cast. JB
