Kiana Valenciano released her most daring and creative music video yet in “Misfits,” a project that involved boyfriend Sam Concepcion.
The song’s mellow, electronic sound is matched by arresting visuals in a sci-fi concept that fits the song’s title. Set in a retro-futuristic backdrop, Concepcion invents a female robot in the form of Valenciano that brings him conflict as he appears attracted to it.
The video’s highlights are the fashion and production design. Directed by Luigi Tabuena, the costumes hark back to the 1980s cartoon “Jem,” which was characterized by neon and glitter.
“My Jem and the Holograms childhood fantasies coming to life,” shared celebrity stylist Pam Quiñones of her work. The vibrant rock makeup was care of Dionne Lea.
In a candid moment from behind the scenes, Concepcion shared, “Lucky to be part of this song and video. Proud of you love. Your music keeps getting better and better.”
The video is produced by Tarsier Records, a division of Star Music, which aims to make Filipino artists globally competitive. /ra
