Maricar Reyes doesn’t regret not being a full-time doctor
Maricar Reyes shared with her fans how she managed to go from full-time doctor to model and actress without a shred of regret.
Reyes told her story in a blog post uploaded on April 17. She recounted that when she first brought up the idea of quitting med school to be a full-time model, her father was “horrified” at the thought.
Her father hoped it was just a phase and asked her to still finish med school, which she did out of love and respect for her parents. Reyes recalled him saying, “Pagod ka lang. Lilipas din yan (You’re just tired. It’ll pass).”
After finishing her studies, Reyes went on to practice while doing auditions on the side, until Star Magic called her up.
Reyes said, “‘Sayang’ is not enough reason for me to go back to med full time.” She now spends her time baking and working on her cake business when not in front of the camera. She also serves as a private doctor for her family, friends and staff.

She wrote, “The experience, abilities and discipline I got from med school helped a lot in my acting and business roles. My dad was right — I do feel more secure with a degree that no one can take away.”
